Production Manager Job in Kenya 2014


Our client is a milk processing company dealing in production of fresh milk, yoghurt and curd milk and is seeking to recruit pro-active and self-driven individual to fill the position of Production Manager reporting to Managing Director
Job Purpose
The position will be responsible for the management of multi-functional teams to efficiently process milk products to meet internal customer order requirements within management performance parameters ensuring adherence to defined Product Specifications, Quality and Safety Standards.

It will also ensure that all products are packed to fulfil internal customer service requirements whilst meeting agreed quality specifications and cost parameters and ensuring that all necessary resources are available and utilised in a safe and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leading and managing implementation of production strategy
  • Developing and leading production plans and implementation to meet customer requirements
  • Ensuring product compliance with quality standards and specifications
  • Preparing and managing the production budget, waste control, and optimize consumables cost
  • Managing production reporting systems and information for end users
  • Leading in productivity improvement and benchmarking to deliver best quality at lower cost
  • Manage productivity through monitoring the availability and utilization of production machines, raw materials and manpower
  • Providing production process guidelines for capital investments and translate customer requirements for action and improvements
  • Managing implementation and maintenance of quality and environmental requirements in the department
  • Planning and managing plant shut-downs and start-ups
  • Developing, benchmarking and implementing Production policies, processes and procedures
  • Managing production material handling systems
  • Developing and managing plant cleanliness, safety procedures and processes for the plant and reporting in compliance with OSHA 2007 and governing legislations
  • Developing, training, motivating and evaluating departmental staff to achieve highest levels of performance
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Food Technology or Mechanical Engineering
  • 3-5 years’ experience in production in FMCG
  • 2 years Managerial experience with demonstrated leadership and accountability for Manufacturing & Packing processes including People Management, Financial Management & Productivity
